The sweet aroma of molasses cookies filled my kitchen. I was pretty excited because my kitchen doesn’t carry the smell of fresh-baked cookies very often. I’m no chef or anything. I prefer eating more than cooking. Though I do enjoy chopping, slicing and dicing. I don’t know why, I just like it. I really really do. That’s my superpower in the kitchen. Too bad it’s not used as often when it comes to baking
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

I love how rolled cookie dough looks so cute. Yeah, I helped make them that cute

Before sprinkles…

…after sprinkles!

Every year at the end of August, there’s a mix of emotions. Everyone’s trying to enjoy the last week of summer before school starts. The weather starts to change. And then the CNE, aka the Exhibition, starts. For 2 weeks, Exhibition Place transforms into a carnival with food, midway games, shopping deals, live shows, an animal farm, an airshow, a casino and lots more.
Some people go every single year without fail. I am not one of those people. I used to go when I was a kid but not every year. I probably went on and off throughout my teens. I have gone the last 3-4 years though. Maybe it’ll be the start of a tradition?

Enjoying some TinyTom-like donuts!

Deep-fried butter!

All the prizes that were won that day!

The Dinner part..
TeamBuy recently had a deal for a dinner + Jays game combo. $115 for a 3-course meal for 4 (around $30/person), while watching the game. The restaurant, Arriba, is in the Renaissance Hotel which is part of the SkyDome (or Rogers Centre as I reluctantly call it today). The menu serves “familiar foods with a fresh inspired Mediterranean twist”
The food was good, though I don’t think my ribeye steak was made very well. Everything else tasted good and I enjoyed the presentation, especially the desserts
I probably wouldn’t go to Arriba if it weren’t for a deal like this or Summer/Winterlicious, but it’s not bad if there’s a game going on at the same time and you get seated next to the window.
We were told we could order anything from the menu but drinks would be extra. Three of us went with the steaks
Maybe it was because my steak was a little too medium for my medium-rare but I wish I tried the lamb now. Oh well…next TeamBuy?
More to come…next up, the Show part!

A few of my fellow food-loving friends and I tried out a little place called Joy Bistro on Queen St. E. The weather was amazing and we were able to get a table on the patio, with sunset streaming through some trees from a park across the street. The lighting was so nice!! It was perfect for test driving my new D700! I love it already : )
Now for the photos. I should use this SmugMug feature more often!

CIBC is the broadcast sponsor for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Check out what we got at our meeting this morning at 9am

(Note: Today’s pictures were all taken with my phone…I should’ve taken them from further away …oops lol)
I was exploring my new neighbourhood at work, trying to decide what to eat when I came across Petite Thuet. I recently read a review on BlogTO so I decided to try it out. I didn’t get any pastries because I wanted a meal so I went for a sandwich. I don’t remember everything that was in it, but there was definitely some deliciously buttered bread, chicken and tomatoes. I’m not sure if the sauce was alfredo but it was definitely creamy. Yum.
Oh yeah, TGIF!
